Herdís Anna Jónasdóttir, soprano, 

studied singing in the Ísafjörður Music School, the Iceland Academy of the Arts in Reykjavík and the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. 2012-13 she was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Opera in Zürich, and 2013-18 engaged as a soloist at the Saarland State Theatre in Saarbrücken, Germany. Herdís is now a freelancing artist and lives in Reykjavík.

Herdís has taken part in several opera productions in Iceland, Germany and Switzerland. Her operatic roles include Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Adele (The Bat), Zerlina in Don Giovanni, The Queen of Schemacha (The Golden Cockerel), Maria (West Side Story), Eliza (My Fair Lady), Nannetta (Falstaff), and Oscar (A Masked Ball). In Iceland she has twice performed with the Icelandic Opera; Musetta (La boheme) and Violetta (La traviata). Herdís Anna has also been very active on the concert stage, performing with f.e. the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra, Caput Ensemble, the Saarland State Orchestra, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra and the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, as well as with smaller ensembles and musicians, in radio and television.

Herdís has received various prizes and acknowledgement for her work; Icelandic Music Awards Singer of the year 2022, Gríman, the Icelandic Performing Arts Award in 2019 and Singer of the year 2016 in Saarbrücken. 

Herdís has through her career gained experience performing different genres of music, Lied as well as opera, sacral music and belconto, musicals and modern music. In 2021 Herdís released her first solo album Nýir vængir, where she performs with Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason, pianist, icelandic Songs, old and new.

She has participated in numerous opera and musical productions, including when she was a permanent member of the State Theater in Saarbrücken in the years 2013–2018. In Iceland, she has twice sung with the Icelandic Opera, Musetta in La bohéme and Violetta Valery in La traviata . Herdís has also performed many times in concerts, for example with the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra, the Brák Baroque Band, the Caput group, at various music festivals, with the Saarland State Orchestra, the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra in Canberra, Australia, as well as with smaller chamber groups and instrumentalists. Furthermore, Herdís has appeared on radio and television.
Herdís Anna has received various awards for her singing, including the Icelandic Music Award for Song of the Year 2022, Grímuna in 2019 and she was chosen as the Female Singer of the Year in Saarbrücken in the spring of 2016. Herdís' first solo album Nýir võngir was released in 2021, where she, together with Bjarna Frímann, performs Icelandic songs, old and new.
